The Blue Sky of Your Mind -
Have you ever looked up into the sky and said, “Wow, not a cloud in the sky.”
You take a deep breath and may even feel gratitude. This is an apt metaphor for your mind. Imagine if you started every day with a fresh perspective, a cloud free beginning to each day. As the day passes clouds appear, thoughts, feelings, the emotions and happenings of life. On great days, the clouds that appear are beautiful, picturesque and moving slowly through the sky posing no threats.
We know every day doesn’t bring a bright blue sky – some are overcast, rainy, dark, or filled with falling snow. Especially in winter, the days are shorter and the season seems to last forever.
The dark clouds and stormy weather (our emotions) get the best of us and leave us feeling sad and gloomy, angry, annoyed, disgusted and maybe even lonely. We allow those negative thoughts and emotions to affect how we act at work and at home.
Keep in mind the blue sky is always present. Storms pass and blue sky appears again. Once you realize there is always a choice whether you focus on the blue sky or the storms, you can properly deploy your energy, focus, attention and resources. The choice is yours.
