Have you ever had one of those days where everything went right, you woke up, felt great, had a focus and plan and the energy to go with it? You looked back on the day with a sense of accomplishment and success. Why are some days more productive than others? A motto I have learned to live by is “The last 48 determine the next 24”.
What you have done in the past 48 hours with your sleep, diet, focus, and thinking to set the stage for what is to come next? You get to determine if you can start each day with the energy and focus you need to get the results you want. In sports, we call this feeling “flow” or being in the “zone” It’s a basketball game where you can’t miss, the hoop looks like an ocean. Everything slows down, and your brain and body move into a relaxed physiological state; it’s pure bliss.
The same is possible in the professional world. High achievers operate in the zone the majority of the day. Like an athlete, they have conditioned their mind and body to perform at an elite level.
The ability to be in the zone and have many of those awesome days doesn’t just happen because you want it to. Making a change or seeking improvement requires intention, focus and choice and your brain has to be in the game with you! This kind of change can be uncomfortable, and our brain hates uncomfortable; however, with the right game plan anything is possible. It takes a plan, time, grit, focus, and practice. Make the most of your last 48 to get the best out of your next 24!
